SRDT Obedience/Trailing/HRD Workshop

2025年12月20日（土曜日）・21日（日曜日）の2日間。青森市浪岡にて第2回目となるNPO法人北東北捜索犬チーム主催のObedience/Trailig/HRD勉強会に参加させて頂きました。初日は、前回の勉強会以降のトレーニングを経て事前に提出して頂いた各ペアの課題に対しての向き合い方や改善に向けてのトレーニングについてのレクチャーと実技。午前中は、オビディエンスに関してのトレーニングを行い、午後からは、Trailing のモチベーションランの取り組み方についてのレクチャーと実技を行いました。
2日目は、初日続いてTrailingのモチベーションランのステップアップとHRDは、前回とは違う原臭を導入し、ブロックサーチとTFRを導入する為の取り組み方についての実践トレーニングを行いました。
前回に引き続き向上心の高いハンドラーと潜在能力の高いサーチドッグの勉強会は、人と犬の成長を強く感じさせてくれる楽しく充実した2日間でした。大変お世話になりました。
On December 20–21, 2025 (Saturday and Sunday), we took part in the second Obedience/Trailing/HRD training workshop hosted by the NPO Northern Tohoku Search Dog Team in Namioka, Aomori City.
Day 1
On the first day, we started with lectures and hands-on sessions focusing on how each handler-dog team could approach and improve the challenges they had submitted in advance, based on the training they’ve done since the last workshop.
In the morning, we worked on obedience training, and in the afternoon, we covered how to build motivation runs for operational Trailing (live subject tracking), including both a lecture and practical training session.
Day 2
On the second day, we continued building on the previous day’s Trailing work, focusing on stepping up motivation runs. For HRD (human remains detection), we introduced new target odors and conducted practical sessions on how to implement block search and TFR (Target Final Response) training.
As with the last session, it was a fulfilling and engaging two days of learning, shared by passionate handlers and highly capable search dogs.
We could truly feel the progress of each team. Thank you again for the opportunity and warm hospitality!

Obedience training

前回のトレーニングで確認できなかった事や、日々の生活やトレーニングで改善できない課題に関して具体的に実践の中からの取り組み方を考えて頂きました。
We explored practical approaches to address issues that had not been resolved during the previous training session, as well as challenges that are difficult to overcome in daily life or regular training.

定期訓練会のトレーニングの際にだけ、高度な事を要求しても犬の理解は深まりません。オーナーハンドラーの特権として、日々の生活の中からルールに基づいたスモールステップアップトレーニングを行う事で、安定した作業ができるペアの成長へとつながります。
Simply demanding advanced tasks during scheduled training sessions will not deepen a dog’s understanding. As owner-handlers, you have the unique advantage of incorporating rule-based, small-step training into daily life. This consistent approach leads to the growth of a stable and effective working team.

Trailing training

前回のトレーニングで確認できたことをベースに、今後の捜索スタイルを検討し、Trailingでのsearch unitの育成に向けてのトレーニングに取り組んでいます。
Building on the insights gained from the previous training session, we are now exploring future search styles and conducting training aimed at developing effective search units for Trailing.

モチベーションラン

モチベーションランの重要性とトレーニングを行う上での注意点と重要なポイントを、ハンドラーと要救助者役それぞれのが共有し取り組みました。
The importance of motivation runs, as well as key considerations and crucial points during training, were shared and addressed by both handlers and the individuals acting as victims.

初日よりも2日目の方が確実に犬の理解が進んだことが分かるトレーニングとなりました。初日は風も強くトレーニング環境としては少し難しくなりました。2日目は雨が降りましたが、湿度が高く風も穏やかな事もありトレーニング環境としては安定したセッションとなりました。共通した課題としては、犬は素直に楽しくステップアップしますが、ハンドラーのロングリードのハンドリングは、初めての経験となったこともあり、手惑うことで犬の意欲が低下してしまったり、ハンドラーを気にしてしまう場面が見られました。ハンドラースキルの向上を目指していきましょう。
The second day of training clearly showed a deeper level of understanding from the dogs compared to the first day.
On the first day, strong winds made the training environment somewhat challenging. On the second day, although it rained, the higher humidity and calm winds created a much more stable environment for training sessions.
A common issue observed was that, while the dogs advanced smoothly and with enthusiasm, the handlers—many of whom were using long lines for the first time—struggled with lead management. This sometimes led to reduced motivation in the dogs or moments when the dogs were overly conscious of their handlers.
Let’s continue working on improving handler skills to support more confident and independent dog performance.

HRD training

今回は、新しい原臭を導入しペアリングを行いながらブロックサーチのステップアップに取り組みました。
In this session, we introduced a new source odor and focused on pairing it with each dog, while also working on stepping up block search exercises.

ブロックサーチとTFR

前回の経験ペアは、シッカリと要領を得ていました。新しい原臭への反応も、全てのペアが明確でしたので、進捗状況により、TFRへのステップにも挑戦できました。
The experienced handler-dog teams from the previous session clearly understood the process. All teams responded well to the newly introduced source odor, and depending on their progress, they were able to take on the challenge of stepping up to TFR (Target Final Response) training.

ホットポイントに対しての執着が強いペアが多く見られました。前回同様に報酬のタイミングがポイントとなりますので、今後のトレーニングでも動画を撮りながら客観的にチェックができるようにしていきましょう。
Many teams showed a strong fixation on the hot point. As with the previous session, the timing of the reward is a key factor. Going forward, it’s important to continue recording training sessions on video so that we can objectively review and assess them.

終わりに

第２回目の勉強会も充実した時間となりました。2日目はお天気が悪く心配しましたが、雨を避けて充分なトレーニングができる環境をご提供いただき感謝いたします。
時間の過ぎるのも忘れて有意義な時間を過ごさせて頂きました。また皆さんとトレーニングができる事を楽しみにしております。2日間大変お世話になりました。
The second workshop also turned out to be a truly fulfilling experience.
Although we were initially concerned about the weather on Day 2, we were grateful to be provided with a sheltered environment that allowed us to carry out sufficient training without interruption from the rain.
We were so engaged that we lost track of time, and we truly appreciated the opportunity to spend such a meaningful and productive time with everyone.
We look forward to training together again in the future.
