NSA Trailing/Disaster/HRD Training

2025年5月11日（日曜日）Trailing/Disaster/HRD 訓練会を開催しました。AM6:00 本社資材置き場に集合しTrailing unitは、市街地および緑地帯で各unitの課題に対しての基礎訓練を行いました。Disaster unitは、資材置き場内で、いくつかの設定で捜索精度の向上に努めました。HRD unitは、TFRの強化トレーニングと指定エリアでの捜索を行い各ペアの改善点などを確認しながら次のステップに向けての訓練に臨みました。
On Sunday, May 11, 2025, we held a Trailing / Disaster / HRD training session. We assembled at 6:00 AM at the headquarters materials yard. The Trailing unit conducted basic exercises addressing each team’s specific challenges in both urban areas and green zones. The Disaster unit worked within the materials yard on several scenarios to improve search accuracy. The HRD unit carried out intensified TFR training and searches in a designated area, reviewing each pair’s points for improvement as they prepared for the next step.

Trailing training

今回は、新しいヘルパーのご協力を得ることができ、各unitのモチベーションランとセントアーティクルで有効的なトレーニングができました。ご協力頂いたヘルパーに感謝申し上げまます。
This time, we were able to receive support from new helpers, which allowed each unit to conduct effective training using motivation runs and scent articles. We sincerely thank the helpers for their cooperation.

モチベーションラン

モチベーションランの考え方やスタートまでのルーティーンとヘルパーが去った後のポジションなど、いくつかの要素を再確認できました。またモチベーションランが与えてくれる捜索に対しての意欲の向上と物品や臭跡に対しての集中は、トレーニングの中で成果として表れています。
We were also able to revisit several key elements, including the concept of motivation runs, the routine leading up to the start, and the dog’s positioning after the helper leaves. Additionally, the increased drive for search work and improved focus on scent articles and trails brought about by motivation runs have clearly shown positive results during training.

セントアーティクル トレーニング

セントアーティクルトレーニングでは、市街地での屈折を含んだ設定に臨み、各屈折でのネガティブ反応が、どの地点で表れるのか？を以前よりも明確にハンドラーが読み取れるようになってきている。経過時間や気温の上昇・交通量などにより臭跡の拡散が起きる場合と、拡散されずに留まっている臭跡を如何に集中して犬が捉えきれるか？という動きを読み取るハンドラースキルが今後も要求されます。
In the scent article training, we tackled scenarios that included turns and bends in an urban environment. Handlers have become noticeably better at identifying where negative reactions appear at each turn. Moving forward, handlers will continue to be required to develop the ability to read their dogs’ behavior—specifically, whether the dogs can remain focused and accurately detect scent trails that either disperse due to factors like elapsed time, rising temperatures, or increased traffic, or remain concentrated in certain areas.

Disaster training

今回は、建物内で空気が対流している状況下での捜索と屋外での障害物で遮断されている状況下での捜索。更にオンリードでの指定エリアの建物周辺の捜索３つのシナリオでトレーニングを行った。
This time, training was conducted using three different scenarios: searching indoors under conditions of air circulation, searching outdoors in areas obstructed by physical barriers, and conducting on-lead searches around designated buildings.

オフリードでの安全が確保された建物内の空気の対流する環境下や屋外での障害物に遮断されている環境下では、要救助者からのセントコーンが複雑に動くことと、その中を犬自らの動きで拡散する事で、場所の特定までに時間を要する事もある。要救助者との距離が離れているポイントでのアラートではなく、より要救助者に至近距離でピンポイントアラートができる事をトレーニングでは取り組んでいる。
In off-lead searches conducted indoors—where air is circulating—and outdoors—where scent is obstructed by physical barriers—the scent cone from the victim can move in complex patterns. Additionally, the dogs themselves may further disperse the scent through their movements, which can sometimes delay pinpointing the source. Our training focuses on enabling dogs to give precise alerts in close proximity to the victim, rather than alerting from a distance.

安全が確保されていない環境下を想定した、オンリードの捜索ではハンドラーの犬の動きや反応を見極める観察力が要求される。また捜索中の犬がストレスを感じずに捜索に集中できるハンドリングも重要な要素であり、ある程度のリードのテンションが犬に加わっても、捜索に集中できる犬の意欲を高められるトレーニングも必要不可欠である。
In on-lead searches simulating environments where safety is not guaranteed, handlers are required to have strong observational skills to accurately interpret their dogs’ movements and reactions. Additionally, it is essential that the dog can remain focused on the search without experiencing stress. Equally important is handler technique—being able to maintain the dog’s motivation and search drive even when a certain level of leash tension is applied. Training that fosters this resilience and concentration under pressure is indispensable.

HRD training

TFRの強化トレーニングと環境ごとの指定エリアでの捜索を行い各ペアの現状の確認や課題の洗い出しを行う事ができました。
Through intensive TFR training and searches conducted in designated areas under varying environmental conditions, we were able to assess each team’s current status and identify areas for improvement.

TFR

TFRの実行性や精度の向上は、何度も繰り返される基礎トレーニングからうまれる。
The effectiveness and accuracy of TFR (Trained Final Response) are developed through repeated and consistent foundational training.

オンリードでもオフリードでも安定した告知動作は、捜索の精度に直結する。このトレーニングも３月ワークショップ後の各unitのトレーニング頻度が向上したことでTFRがスムーズに実行できるようになってきている。
A stable alert behavior, whether on-lead or off-lead, is directly linked to search accuracy. Thanks to the increased training frequency of each unit following the March workshop, TFRs are now being executed more smoothly.

指定アリア捜索

オフリードでの指定エリアの捜索のトレーニングは、広域エリアではない限りピンポイントでのエリアの指定を求められることが想定される。
Off-lead search training in designated areas is expected to require pinpoint identification of the target zone, especially when the area is not a large-scale search environment.

地表面・障害物での遮断・想定外の場所などブラインド捜索で、ハンドラーのハンドリングと原臭からのセントコーンへの反応の観察力やTFRの精度の確認を行った。
In blind searches involving ground surfaces, scent obstruction by obstacles, and unexpected locations, we evaluated the handlers’ ability to manage their dogs, observe their reactions from the original scent to the scent cone, and assess the accuracy of the TFR.

埋没設定捜索

土砂想定のエリアに、訓練会開始の6:00に約5㎝程度の土砂が原臭に覆いかぶさっている状況で設定。捜索開始は、2時間後となり各unitごとに指定エリアの捜索を行った。
In the simulated debris area, approximately 5 cm of soil was placed over the target scent at the start of the training session at 6:00 AM. The search began two hours later, with each unit conducting a search within their assigned area.

気温上昇と後半の捜索設定だった事もあり、特定は困難を極めた。今後のステップには必要な段階ではあるので、埋没深度・放置時間・環境を変えながら取り組んでいきたい。
Due to the rising temperature and the search being scheduled in the latter half of the session, scent detection proved extremely challenging. However, this is a necessary stage in the training process. Moving forward, we plan to continue working on this by varying factors such as burial depth, scent aging time, and environmental conditions.
