NSA Trailing/Disaster/HRD Training

2025年11月23日（日曜日）Trailing/Disaster/HRD 訓練会を開催しました。今回は、新しく要救助者役のお手伝いをして頂ける方が参加して頂き、TrailingとDisasterの要救助者役をお願いし、それぞれのunitには、良い経験となったのと同時に、今後も継続的な課題への取り組みも見えてきた。。HRDに関しては、今後の活動における捜索精度の向上を目標に、資材置き場全体を捜索エリアとして、グリット捜索に基づいた捜索訓練を行った。この訓練でもunitごとの精度や課題も見えてきましたので、環境設定を変えながら捜索精度を高めていきたい。
On Sunday, November 23, 2025, a Trailing/Disaster/HRD training session was held.
This time, we welcomed a new participant who supported the training as a victim role (search subject). They assisted as the victim for both the Trailing and Disaster units. Their participation provided valuable experience for each unit and also helped highlight ongoing training challenges that need continuous effort moving forward.
As for the HRD unit, the focus was on improving search accuracy for future deployment activities. A full-area search was conducted using the entire training grounds of the materials yard, following a grid search format. Through this session, we were able to observe each unit’s precision and identify specific areas for improvement. Going forward, we plan to adjust training environments to further enhance search effectiveness and reliability.

Trailing Unit

初めての要救助者役でのモチベーションランと短い距離でのネガティブの確認など、unitごとの課題について取り組んだ。時間を追うごとに休日のために、人や犬などの誘惑刺激が多く加わり、ディストラクションが多くなる事で全体的な作業の精度も低下してくる傾向も見られる。また、以前から課題に取り上げている、今までの要救助者役への認識が強すぎる為に、ダミーとしてトレール上に設置して選別できるように今後も訓練内容を検討していきたい。
During the training, we focused on unit-specific challenges such as conducting motivation runs with a newly assigned missing person role (helper) for the first time, and verifying negative responses over short distances.
As the day progressed, being a holiday, the number of distractions increased—such as people and other dogs—which led to a noticeable decline in overall search accuracy due to heightened environmental stimuli.
Additionally, a recurring issue was once again highlighted: many dogs still show an overly strong association with familiar individuals acting as the missing person. To address this, we plan to further explore training setups where a dummy person is placed along the trail to help the dog make more accurate discriminations.

Disaster Unit

指定エリアの中の場所の特定と、更にピンポイントの要救助者の特定を課題として、オフリード捜索とオンリード捜索で訓練を行った。車両の検索に関しては、車両本体のあらゆる場所から要救助者の匂いが出て拡散している為に、犬の動きにも注意が必要となる。また新しい要救助者役への意識づけも、基礎トレーニングから進めスムーズな訓練ができた。
As part of the training, we focused on identifying the specific location within a designated area and pinpointing the exact position of the victim, conducting both off-lead and on-lead search exercises.
In vehicle searches, special attention was needed to monitor the dogs’ behavior, as the victim’s scent was dispersed from various parts of the vehicle body.
Additionally, foundational training was implemented to help the dogs build awareness of a new victim role (helper), resulting in smooth and effective training sessions.

HRD Unit

資材置き場のエリア全体を捜索エリアとして、グリットで指定された範囲をunit別に捜索を開始、捜索開始から5分で、1カ所目の対象を発見する事ができた。犬を信じて観察力を高める努力は、今後も継続していくべき。捜索エリアにより、風の向きも違い、地質形状も変わる事で、セントプールが発生し、セントプールからセントコーンとして流れる匂いを感じとれるかどうか？また、感じ取った犬の反応を見極められるかどうか？今後も引き続き精度向上の為の訓練を継続していきたい。
Using the entire storage yard as the designated search area, each unit began their grid-based search within assigned zones. Within just five minutes from the start, the first target was successfully located. Continuing to trust in the dog and sharpening the handler’s observational skills will remain essential going forward.
Wind direction and ground characteristics vary depending on the specific section of the search area, leading to the formation of scent pools. The key lies in whether the dog can detect the scent cone emanating from these scent pools — and whether the handler can accurately read and interpret the dog’s response to that scent. We aim to continue training with these elements in mind to further improve overall search precision.
