NSA Trailing/Disaster/HRD Training

2025年1月5日（日曜日）AM6:30から本社資材置き場に集合し新年最初のTrailing/Disaster/HRD 訓練会を開催しました。
On January 5, 2025 (Sunday), participants gathered at the company materials yard at 06:30, where the first Trailing / Disaster / HRD training session of the year was held.

Trailing Unit

Trailingは、市街地および住宅街周辺で各unitの課題に対しての基礎訓練を行いました。
In the Trailing training, foundational exercises were carried out in urban and residential areas, with emphasis on addressing the individual training objectives and challenges of each unit.

それぞれの現在の課題に向き合い、クリアできてきているポイントもあれば、まだ不確定要素が多分にある課題も多いのが現状。基礎段階に戻りながらも犬の自主性とハンドラーの観察力のバランスの修正が今後も求められる課題です。
Each unit addressed its current training challenges. While certain aspects have shown measurable improvement, there are still several areas where uncertainty remains.
By revisiting the fundamentals when necessary, continued work is required to refine the balance between canine initiative during the search and the handler’s observational and interpretive abilities.

Disaster Unit

Disasterは、unitごとに捜索設定を変えながら取り組みました。要救助者からのセントコーンの流れを犬が捉えた瞬間の反応の観察や、犬の意欲と共に自主捜索性を高める為に、ハンドラーのポジションや告知の際の咆哮の自信を高められるような内容の訓練となりました。
In the Disaster search training, scenarios were adjusted for each unit according to their current training objectives.
Special focus was placed on observing the dogs’ responses when encountering the scent cone originating from the victim.
The training also aimed to enhance the dogs’ search motivation and independent search behavior, while refining the handler’s positioning and reinforcing the dogs’ confidence in their barking alerts during indication.

高さのある設定では、セントコーンへの反応と共に、セントボイドでのネガティブな反応も合わせて観察する事で要救助者のポイントを絞り込むことができるようになります。また走破性の能力の高いunitは安全確保を考えながら要救助者の元まで辿り着く能力も確認できました。
In elevated search scenarios, observing both the dog’s response to the scent cone and its negative responses within scent void areas allowed handlers to more accurately narrow down the victim’s location.
Units with strong mobility and terrain negotiation skills also demonstrated the ability to safely reach the victim while maintaining proper safety awareness.

HRD Unit

HRDは、捜索環境の変化にも躊躇なく対応し、安定した告知動作の強化に取り組みました。特にTFRを安定させる為に、現段階の告知への認識を確認しながら、どのようなアプローチで強化すべきか？を判断し実践トレーニングを行いました。
In the HRD training, emphasis was placed on reinforcing stable alert behavior while ensuring that the dogs could adapt without hesitation to changing search environments.
Special focus was given to stabilizing the Trained Final Response (TFR). By assessing each dog’s current understanding of the alert behavior, we determined appropriate training approaches and carried out practical exercises to strengthen the response.

捜索における集中力や意欲は、以前よりも安定してきていますが、ソースに対しての告知の自信と素早い告知速度は、今後も基礎訓練を行いながら強化が必要。ソースが遮蔽物の陰にある場合などは、告知までに時間を要しますが、スクラッチなどの行動を行わずに的確なポイントで告知ができるように訓練を進めます。
The dogs’ search motivation and concentration have shown improved stability compared to previous sessions. However, additional training is required to strengthen the dogs’ confidence in identifying the odor source and to improve alert latency.
When the source is hidden behind obstacles or within concealed spaces, the indication may take longer. Training will therefore continue with emphasis on achieving a clear and accurate final indication at the correct source point, without unnecessary behaviors such as scratching.

2025年がスタートしました。3月には、海外講師を招いて第2回のHRD/Trailing認定審査会とワークショップも開催する事となっております。また今後も増えるであろうNSAの活動の主旨の1つである平時の行方不明者捜索の依頼にも素早く対応できるように、月例訓練の練度と訓練内容の向上も進め、2025年も実働での捜索活動に向けてサーチドッグとハンドラーの育成に精進してまいりますので引き続きご支援ご協力の程、宜しくお願い申し上げます。訓練に参加された皆様、早朝よりご苦労様でした。
The year 2025 has begun.
In March, we will host the 2nd HRD / Trailing Certification Evaluation and Workshop, inviting instructors from overseas.
In addition, as part of one of NSA’s core missions, we expect that requests for missing person searches during non-disaster periods will continue to increase. In order to respond quickly to such requests, we will further enhance both the quality and intensity of our monthly training sessions.
Throughout 2025, we will continue to focus on developing search dogs and handlers capable of operational deployment, and we sincerely appreciate your continued support and cooperation in our activities.
Finally, we would like to thank all participants who attended the training session for their dedication and effort, especially from the early morning hours.

多くの方々からご支援いただくことで、より速く、より多くの行方不明者捜索にサーチドッグを派遣することができます。皆様のご支援をお願いいたします。
