NSA Trailing/Disaster/HRD 訓練会レポート_2025.01.19

NSA Trailing/Disaster/HRD Training
On January 19, 2025 (Sunday), an NSA Trailing / Disaster / HRD training session was held.
Participants gathered at the company materials yard at 06:30, where the training activities commenced.
Trailing Unit
In the Trailing training, foundational exercises were carried out in urban and residential areas, with emphasis on addressing the individual training objectives and challenges of each unit.

On this occasion, three participants joined as observers and assisted as new helpers during the training session.
Each unit focused on their current training challenges through foundational exercises, allowing us to assess their current level and identify key areas for improvement.
Moving forward, we will continue progressing step by step, keeping the training structure simple while reinforcing the essential elements.
Disaster Unit
In the Disaster search training, each unit addressed its current training objectives, including practicing alert behavior with the newly participating helpers.

It is essential that dogs are able to confidently and quickly perform their alert behavior, even when working with helpers they have not previously encountered.
Furthermore, by designing the search scenarios with careful attention to wind direction and environmental conditions, the training provides valuable opportunities for handlers to develop their skills in reading the dog’s body language during search operations.
HRD Unit
In the HRD training, emphasis was placed on maintaining stable alert behavior while ensuring the dogs could adapt without hesitation to changing search environments.
Special focus was given to stabilizing the Trained Final Response (TFR). By assessing each dog’s current understanding of the alert behavior, we determined appropriate training approaches and implemented practical exercises to further reinforce the response.

The dogs’ search motivation and concentration have shown improved stability compared to previous sessions. However, further reinforcement is needed to increase the dogs’ confidence in identifying the odor source and to improve the speed of the alert response.
When the source is hidden behind obstacles or within concealed spaces, the indication may require additional time. Training will therefore continue with emphasis on ensuring that the dog performs a clear and accurate alert at the correct source location, without unnecessary behaviors such as scratching.
NSA’s activities are carried out by civilian volunteers.
With the support of many individuals, we can deploy search dogs more quickly and to a greater number of missing person cases.
We sincerely ask for your continued support.
