NSA Trailing/Disaster/HRD Training

本日はAM5:00から山中湖村にてTrailing/Disaster/HRD 訓練会を開催しました。
Today, Trailing, Disaster Search, and HRD training were conducted in Yamanakako Village, starting at 05:00 AM.

Trailing Unit

Trailingは、山中湖湖畔の遊歩道を利用して、認定犬と適性試験を目指すビギナーペアごとの設定を行い、現状の確認と今後のステップアップの進め方が見えてきました。特にビギナーペアは臭跡へのポジティブと臭跡が無くなったネガティブ以外にも誘惑臭への反応の見極めが重要ですので環境刺激のレベルを変えながら取り組んでいきます。
In the Trailing training, scenarios were conducted along the lakeside trail at Lake Yamanaka, with separate setups for certified dogs and beginner pairs preparing for the aptitude test. These exercises allowed the teams to evaluate their current level and identify the next steps in their training progression.
For the beginner pairs, it is important to distinguish not only positive trail indications and negative responses when the trail is lost, but also the dogs’ reactions to distraction odors. Training will continue while gradually adjusting the level of environmental distractions.

HRD Unit

HRDは、捜索作業へのスイッチを明確にしていく必要があります。現在のアラートであるのフリーズ姿勢に関しては、前回よりもハンドラーへの意識が減少し原臭への集中が高まってはいますが、スタート時の集中を、どの環境下でも維持できるように取り組む必要があります。また、チーム捜索の場合に必要な捜索戦略をハンドラーは理解しハンドリングする必要がりますので、風の流れと捜索方向などをハンドラ自らが理解し、チームと連動できるようにしましょう。
In the HRD training, emphasis was placed on establishing a clearer transition into search mode.
The dogs’ current freeze alert posture shows improvement compared to the previous session, with reduced handler focus and increased concentration on the primary odor source. However, further work is needed to ensure that dogs maintain strong focus from the start of the search regardless of environmental conditions.
In team search operations, handlers must understand and apply appropriate search strategies. This includes interpreting wind direction and search approach and coordinating their handling so that the team can work effectively together in the search area.

Disaster Unit

Disasterの初歩犬は、今までとはまるで違う環境下での訓練となりました。訓練の組み立てを考え、犬の反応をハンドラーが感じ取れることは、素早く要救助者を発見する為には最も大切なハンドリングスキルです。告知の関しては、特定のヘルパーに対しては自信を持ち告知ができるようになっていますので、少しずつヘルパーの変更をしてステップアップしていきましょう。実働犬は、今回の設定ではヘルパーが何らかの遮蔽物で遮断されていない設定で、セントコーンへの反応と告知の速度についての課題に取り組みました。実働犬も環境変化への対応は重要な要素ですので、今後も決められた場所・決められたポイントの訓練ではなく、実働に即した訓練を進めていきます。
In the Disaster training, beginner dogs worked in an environment significantly different from their usual training settings. Proper scenario design and the handler’s ability to interpret the dog’s responses are among the most important handling skills for quickly locating victims during search operations.
The dogs are beginning to perform confident alerts toward specific helpers, and future training will gradually introduce different helpers to generalize the alert behavior.
For the operational dogs, the scenario involved helpers not concealed by obstacles, allowing the teams to focus on improving scent cone recognition and alert speed.
Adaptability to changing environments is a critical factor for operational search dogs. Future training will therefore emphasize realistic operational scenarios rather than fixed training points.

早朝5時の山中湖の気温は、20℃。訓練を行う上では、別世界の気温で最高のシチュエーションでした。今回の訓練では、ボート置き場の訓練会場を快くご提供頂きました事、心より感謝申し上げます。皆様のご支援やご協力で、NSAは活動できている事に感謝し、今後も実働の捜索活動に向けてサーチドッグとハンドラーの育成に精進してまいります。訓練に参加された皆様、早朝よりご苦労様でした。
At 05:00, the temperature at Lake Yamanaka was approximately 20°C, providing excellent conditions for training.
We would like to sincerely thank those who kindly provided the boat storage facility as the training site.
NSA continues its activities thanks to the support and cooperation of many individuals and organizations. We will remain committed to developing search dogs and handlers capable of real operational deployments.
We would also like to thank everyone who participated in the training session for their effort and dedication from the early morning hours.
